September, 2010

Join us on Saturday, September 11 at 10:30am as we explore:

Southside Community Land Trust's Community Gardens
500 Broad Street, Providence, RI
401-273-9419

Join us on our first-ever urban hike! We'll stroll through the streets of southern Providence and visit a few of the 13 neighborhood-based community gardens in the Southside Community Land Trust (SCLT). We may even be able to harvest some of the vegetables! After the hike, please join us for lunch at the Friendship Cafe, which serves some of the food produced in the gardens. (Each person is responsible for purchasing her own items.)

We'll meet in the SWAP (Stop Wasting Abandoned Property) Community Room in the SWAP building at 500 Broad Street at 10:15am and begin our hike promptly at 10:30am.

Directions: From 95 North, take exit 16 for Route 10 toward Cranston. Bear right at the fork and follow signs for Route 1/Elmwood Ave. At the light, turn left onto Elmwood Ave. Follow Elmwood Ave. for 2.3 miles and then turn right onto Bridgham St. Take an immediate right onto Broad St. The SWAP Building (500 Broad St.) will be on your left next to the Friendship Cafe. Please park behind the building and meet us in the Community Room.
